Kitsap County District Court gets new technology through FWSC funding

With the Foundation’s assistance, Kitsap County District Court has been able to purchase video conferencing equipment for their Human Trafficking Court and other hearings. Having defendants appear via video conferencing allows defendant’s enrolled in treatment programs to participate without interfering with that treatment, and allows at-risk defendants in the Human Trafficking Court to participate without fear of safety issues.

The Court intends to expand the use of video conferencing for other hearings, and thanks the Foundation for Washington State Courts for their support.

Pacific County updates security through FWSC funding

Pacific County updates security through FWSC funding

With the Foundation’s assistance, Pacific County has been able to purchase and install floor lockdown devices for the doors in most of the Courthouse offices. Security for the Courts is critically underfunded, especially for Courts located in rural counties. Pacific County Courthouse is a national historic building; of course when it was constructed, courthouse security was not the issue it is today. When the building was first occupied, all county services were located in the building, including the Sheriff’s Office and Jail – times have sure changed. The security issues the Courts face today, where inconceivable 100 years ago; funding and implementing security improvements in such a historic building is difficult. With the Foundations grant, Pacific County has been able to take a step towards providing a secure and safe environment for the public and staff.

Kitsap County Superior Court updates wireless system through FWSC funding

Thanks to donations made through FWSC, Kitsap County Superior Court was able to update the wireless system throughout the courthouse to ensure that all electronic information on the system is secure. Frank Maoiocco, Court Administrator, expressed his thanks:

“The Kitsap County Superior Court, including its Adult Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court teams, greatly appreciates the investment made by the Foundation for Washington State Courts in our recently upgraded wireless system. Through your generous donation, we have been able to install multiple Ruckus access points on the second floor of the County Courthouse which have effectively established a secure wireless pathway for the transaction of treatment information while separating it from general, unsecure wifi for our citizens, Bar members, and jurors. Thank you for contributing to our expansion of wireless connectivity for our judges and court employees, our jurors, and our daily Superior Court customers.”
